CLT - Cross Laminated Timber:
Manufactured from timber boards in bonded layers with the boards running perpendicular to those of the adjoining layer to form panels. This provides a very strong and stable final product which can be used as floor panels, roof panels and walls.
Produced in rectangular sections, the longer outside boards are generally finger-jointed to allow panel lengths which are usually restricted for transport and handling purposes. The shorter boards across the width of the panel may also be finger jointed to minimise waste.
Machining of the CLT panels is carried out using CNC technology to shape the edges for jointing and to cut out for doors, windows, roof lights, services etc. This ensures extremely tight tolerance and ease of installation.
As the timber is dried and the moisture content strictly monitored during the manufacturing process the panels will not shrink or warp in the completed structure.
